Local artists looking to develop their practice in a structured, supportive environment have a timely opportunity on their doorstep, with three remaining sessions of an artistic mentorship programme still open for bookings at a North Sydney studio. Led by artist and educator Jody Graham, the monthly workshops are designed to help participants grow their creative voice, strengthen professional skills, and build a cohesive body of work.
The programme is held on the second Sunday of each month at Hanke Studio, located at 25–27 Walker Street, North Sydney, running from 10am to 4pm. Three sessions remain for 2026, each tackling a distinct and practical aspect of arts practice.
The September workshop, on the 13th, focuses on art prizes and pricing — giving participants insight into how to approach entering prizes with purpose and how to price their work with confidence. The session also includes a hands-on demonstration exploring texture and patinas. In October, on the 11th, the focus shifts to planning an exhibition, covering how to curate and present a cohesive body of work, alongside a drawing and painting session that encourages risk-taking through the discipline of elimination. The final gathering for the year falls on 8 November and turns attention to sustaining creative practice over the long term — staying inspired and resilient across all creative seasons, and building artistic community and lasting connections.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all class, each workshop balances individual focus with targeted demonstrations, with Graham providing personalised guidance alongside broader instruction. The programme is limited to ten artists, keeping the group small and the mentorship genuinely personal.
Morning tea is provided, there is free onsite parking, and the air-conditioned studio is conveniently close to public transport and local cafés. Note that the venue involves stairs and is not fully accessible, though assistance can be arranged for those who need it.
Workshops can be booked individually, as a selection, or as a full series — with a $250 discount available when booking the complete course, equivalent to one session at no cost.
