Sydney Catholic Schools’ students, families and staff are invited to submit their creative works to be showcased in our Lockdown Arts Festival.
In this time of lockdowns and uncertainty, we want to celebrate the joy, creativity and optimism of our SCS community.
The theme of the Festival is Looking outwards from a life in lockdown and is open to all students, their families and our staff.
We have five categories to showcase the incredible creative talent we have in our community – the visual arts, literature, drama, dance and music.
There will be great prizes up for grabs, including the chance to have your talent shared with the entire SCS community and beyond.
Further information on each entry category and submission requirements is provided below.
Entries close at 2pm on Friday 15 October 2021 and winners announced on Friday 29 October 2021.

Students shine at ArtExpress
Nine students from Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) have been chosen from 9,000 entries to have their works displayed in the annual ArtExpress HSC showcase exhibitions.

“This year has seen the most HSC bodies of work included in ArtExpress for the (Sydney) Archdiocese,” said Eva Spata, SCS’ Specialist: Creative and Performing Arts.
She said the number of Archdiocesan inclusions had more than doubled compared to the previous year.
“I am extremely proud of all the hard work of the 2020 Year 12 students, along with the support of their teachers in such a difficult and unusual (COVID-19) year” – Eva Spata said.
About ArtExpress
Each year, the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) celebrates exemplary HSC Visual Arts bodies of work with exhibitions in various major venues across Sydney, including the Art Gallery of NSW, called ArtExpress.
Out of 9,000 entries, only 50 outstanding bodies of work were selected by NESA for this year’s exhibitions.

Our first co-education Year 7 cohort
In a historical new phase of the college’s history the 2021 school year at Marist Catholic College North Shore began with the exciting addition of our first co-education Year 7 cohort. The air was electric with anticipation at the arrival of our Year 7 girls and boys on their momentous new journey into the next stage of their schooling career.
Parents proudly handed the responsibility of their precious children over to the staff and community of Marist Catholic College North Shore, a responsibility we do not take lightly. Throughout the day our Year 7 students proved to be energetic, engaged, friendly and ready to give their all to our Marist community. As our Principal, Mr Anthony Boys, said of the day “This was a wonderful affirmation of the Marist Community where the support, enthusiasm, and connectivity among our Year 7 students, senior leaders, and staff was clearly on display”.
