North Sydney Council has been named a finalist in three categories at the 2026 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards, with the recognition linked to ongoing work in customer service, service reviews, internal systems and staff wellbeing.
North Sydney Council Recognised For Service Improvements
The finalist nominations place North Sydney Council among shortlisted organisations recognised for work aimed at improving how services are planned, delivered and supported.
The three recognised entries are Seamless by Design: A Customer-First Transformation in the Customer Experience category, Empowered People, Informed Decisions in the Innovative Leadership category, and Personal Best in the People, Workplace and Wellbeing category.

The nominations point to several years of internal improvement work. This includes reviewing how services operate, improving systems and ways of working, and investing in staff capability and development.

Customer Service, Leadership and Staff Wellbeing highlighted
The Customer Experience nomination focuses on a customer-first approach to service delivery. The Innovative Leadership nomination is linked to service reviews and better-informed decision-making, while the People, Workplace and Wellbeing nomination recognises work connected to staff support and development.
The three areas show a broad focus on organisational improvement, from the way residents interact with services to the way staff are supported behind the scenes.
The work is also connected to efforts to lift productivity, improve financial management and strengthen organisational performance. Those themes sit at the centre of the finalist recognition, with the nominations highlighting practical changes across teams rather than a single isolated initiative.

Awards Place North Sydney Among NSW finalists
The NSW Local Government Excellence Awards recognise achievement, innovation and continuous improvement across NSW local government. Finalist nominations are reviewed by a panel of peers and industry leaders before winners are selected.
North Sydney Council’s three entries sit within the under-100,000 population categories, alongside other finalists from across NSW.
Winners will be announced at the LG Awards Dinner on Thursday, 4 June 2026. The finalist places mark recognition of work across customer experience, leadership, staff wellbeing and internal service improvement.
